About HM Coastguard 

Mwy am Wylwyr y Glannau

Porthdinllaen Coastguard Rescue Team is part of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.   HM Coastguard is an on-call emergency organisation responsible for the initiation and co-ordination of all civilian maritime search and rescue within the UK Maritime Search and Rescue Region.  

As part of this organisation the Porthdinllaen team, like any of the many coastguard teams stationed around the coast of Britain, can be called out at any time of the day or night by the local Maritime Rescue Co-ordination Centre.   Ours is at located at Holyhead whose operations room covers a large part of the North Wales sea area.

The whole of the coastline of the UK is divided into sectors and in each sector there is a full time coastguard officer who is responsible for training and supervising all  teams in that sector.   Derek Roberts who has an office at Criccieth Coastguard Station manages our sector which comprises of six teams - Porthdinllaen, Aberdaron, Abersoch, Criccieth, Harlech and Barmouth.

Rhan o Asiantaeth Forwrol a Gwylwyr y Glannau yw Tîm Achub Porthdinllaen.   Cyfrifoldeb Gwylwyr y Glannau yw ymateb i, a chydlynnu, unrhyw  achos o argyfwng  arforol sifil o fewn rhanbarth Chwilio ac Achub Arforol y Deyrnas Unedig.

Fel rhan o’r asiantaeth yma gall tim Porthdinllaen, fel unrhyw un o’r nifer o dimau Gwylwyr y Glannau eraill a leolir o gylch arfordir Prydain, gael eu galw allan ar unrhyw adeg o’r dydd neu’r nos gan y Ganolfan Cyd-drefnu Achub Arforol agosaf.   Yng Nghaergybi y lleolir ein canolfan leol ni ac mae’n  gyfrifol am ran helaeth o’r môr o gylch Gogledd Cymru.

Rhannir arfordir Prydain  yn sectorau dan ofal swyddog llawn amser o Wylwyr y Glannau sy’n gyfrifol am hyfforddi a goruchwilio pob tîm yn ei sector.   Derek Roberts sydd yn gweithio o swyddfa yng Ngorsaf Gwylwyr y Glannu yn Criccieth sydd yn rheoli’r chwech tîm sydd yn ein sector ni, sef timau Porthdinllaen, Aberdaron, Abersoch, Cricieth, Harlech ac Abermaw.
